Spring Recital Info

When: Sunday, May 31 @ 2:00p
Where: Sanctuary Church (185 Plain Street)
Who: All Bornstringed Studio students are invited (and encouraged!) to participate

Recitals are an incredibly important and special part of learning an instrument. While lessons focus on building skills step by step, a recital allows our students to bring together all the skills they've been working hard on in a really meaningful way. It gives students a clear goal to work toward and a moment to feel proud of what they’ve accomplished.

Performing also helps students grow in ways that go beyond music. They learn how to handle a few butterflies, stay focused, and keep going even if something doesn’t go perfectly. Those experiences build confidence that carries over into so many other areas of life.

Perhaps most importantly, recitals are meant to be positive and encouraging. They’re a chance for students to celebrate their progress, support one another, and enjoy making music for an audience of family and friends.

We'll be talking a lot about the recital with your students in the coming weeks. We'll help them select a piece to perform and help them work out what to do to feel confident and prepared. You may also wish to start talking about it with your students this week. If you sense any nervousness or apprehension, you can remind them that the goal isn’t perfection—it’s simply to share what they’ve learned and enjoy the experience. Celebrating your student and their effort goes a long way in building confidence.

All that said, if your student really does not wish to participate, please save the date anyway and bring your student to watch the recital. They can still support their peers and gain a sense of what it's like to participate. Often, that's enough to help them decide to be a part of the next recital.

A sign up form will go out to families next week so you can let us know if your students will be participating in our recital this year. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
